To view your verifications, log into your bronID Portal account and, in the left-hand menu under ID Verification, go to Results. Once the customer completes an eKYC verification, you may receive two verification results (statuses): Verified and Rejected.
The e-Document Procedure
The e-Document procedure can be used for verifying individuals by relying on the documents they provide online. For an individual to be verified with the e-Document identity verification procedure, the following rules must be satisfied:
1. Document collection:
- collect at least one photo of a primary photographic identification document; and either
- collect at least one photo of a secondary photographic identification document; or
- collect at least one photo of a secondary non-photographic identification document.
2. Data collection:
The documents should contain at least the following information of the individual:
- the full name;
- the date of birth; and
- the residential address.
3. Authenticity and liveness checks:
The following checks are performed with computer analysis:
- document authenticity check;
- liveness check.
Verified
The bronID verification process is complete once the verification status is verified. This means that all the e-Document KYC requirements have been satisfied:
- Two ID documents were provided: One is a valid, unexpired photo ID (e.g. passport, driver licence, national ID card), and the second is an accepted supporting document (e.g. another government-issued ID, a recent utility bill, or a recent bank statement).
- Full name matching: The full name is present on at least one of the documents, and the same full name or the initials appear on the second document.
- Date of birth or address: At least one of the two documents contains the date of birth or the current residential address of the customer.
- Biometric check: The biometric result (face match) matches the photo on the photo ID document.
- Liveness check: The customer successfully completed a liveness check, confirming the biometric capture is from a live person and not from a static image or video replay.
- Document format and source: The documents are scans or photos of the original physical copies. Screenshots or photos of digital versions (from phones, computers, or other screens) are not acceptable.
- Document validity: All documents are unexpired at the time of submission. For utility bills or bank statements, the document was issued within the last six months.
Rejected
In certain cases, an eKYC verification cannot be verified and will be rejected. Even though the customer is provided with error messages upon submission and is allowed to correct some of the issues with the documents they are trying to upload, after a certain number of attempts, bronID will allow them to submit the documents they choose to provide.
If there are issues with the uploaded documents, or if the biometrics or liveness check are not performed to satisfy the requirements, the eKYC verification will be rejected. The rejection reason, or multiple reasons, will be recorded in the Notes tab.
Below is a list of the relevant rejection reasons that may be included in the notes:
To resolve a rejected eKYC verification, review the rejection reason(s) in the Notes tab, then generate a new verification link and ask the customer to complete the verification again, addressing the identified issues (e.g. using original physical documents, ensuring the images are clear, and completing the liveness check in good lighting).
